[Single Life Adventures] Valentines Day 2017 - Basketmouth Live @ Wembley SSE Arena

The Dinner
Well the fact that my sister and I were single ladies did not dampen our mood during this year's Valentines Day. In fact, we were giddy with excitement just by the mere fact that we were going to be treating ourselves to every and anything. Plus, we would be attending the Basketmouth Live event at Wembley Arena which would put an explosive end to a wonderful.....no, let me rephrase.....INCREDIBLE day! I must apologise in advance for not taking any pictures of our outfit or even at the event itself but when you're busy having fun, the last thing you think about is reaching for your phone or video camera!

We treated ourselves to a meal (fit for royalty) at our local pub in Wembley called 'The Torch'.

Dressed to the hilt and completely in awe of ourselves (I know, our vanity knows no bounds lol) we were treated to excellent customer service by the bartending staff and waitresses who were not only attentive but extremely approachable and friendly. With some alcohol working through our veins and leaving the restaurant in high spirits, we got ready for the second part of our evening.

This event was mad fun, off the charts and extremely entertaining. Since my sister and I booked tickets for this event at different times, we were faced with sitting at opposite ends of a very big venue. However, one of the staff members at the arena came to our rescue and not only arranged for us to sit together but also upgraded us to VIP seats free of charge! As if the evening couldn't get any better, access to the VIP area also granted exclusive access to the on-site bar and lounge. Apart from being located at an excellent angle from the stage, the VIP area also had the added bonus of personalised customer care where at the press of a button (which so happened to not be working on the day lol) we would be brought snacks and refreshments.

Already the evening was turning out to be fantastic and the event didn't even start yet! Oh, but when it did......it...was...incredible! In typical Black people fashion, the event started at least an hour and a half late but once it begun, it got off to a flying start. I believe that we were the only Jamaicans in the crowd of Africans that came to the event but this did not stop us from having a good time! In fact, after months of watching and enjoying Nollywood movies, my sister and I were absolute pros in understanding the jokes that were delivered in 'pidgin' English. The MC - Cupid Game - did a lovely job of making the proceedings flow smoothly. Kenny Blaq was one among the various comedians that would preceed the man of the night - Basketmouth - and he was a delight! There was nothing this man couldn't sing and certainly no song he couldn't add a comical twist to! Then came Basketmouth who had us in stitches the whole way through his act. Extremely talented and clearly destined for even bigger shows, I intend to keep an eye out for his future events.

Now the organisers did a brilliant job of combining comedy with A-list singers from Africa which led to my other highlight for the night - Mr Eazi!!!!!!!!!!!!! He did some songs from his new album which were quite nice and now available on iTunes. But I was on the edge of my seat until he did the hit song - Skintight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I shot so quick out of my seat that even my sister was almost knocked over in my fervour to belt this song at the top of my lungs. I was done....it couldn't have gotten any better for me. This was a Valentines Day to remember!

However, as if the universe couldn't help but shower us with more love, when I went to a late night takeaway to grab a bite before retiring officially for the night, even the staff was kind enough to oblige me with extra chicken wings LOL!

Needless to say, my sister and I had a blast! At this rate, we might be tempted to go out as single ladies on Valentines Day from now on!
